Article import

Bring the whole draft back.

Reopen a Markdown export or import the structured result from a Draft to Page brief. Preview the article before replacing your current work.

Reopen an exported article

  1. Open the workspace and select Import an article.
  2. Choose a UTF-8 text file up to 48 KiB, or paste the complete article into the import box.
  3. Inspect the title, article, page details, questions, and any transformation notices in the preview.
  4. Select Import into editor. Existing article fields and review questions are replaced only after confirmation. Source notes are kept, and approval is cleared.

Bring back a drafting result

Fill your source outline and copy the locally prepared drafting brief into the writing tool you choose. The brief requests one JSON article containing title, excerpt, description, slug, body, and questions. Paste that result into Import an article and preview it. Copying the brief and importing the result here make no AI request or upload.

Supported Markdown

Plain Markdown and single-line front matter are supported. Title, excerpt, description, and slug become page fields. JSON-quoted and simple single-quoted text values are accepted. An opening title heading matching the page title moves into the title field to avoid duplicating it. A different heading remains in the body and is called out for review.

Other single-line front-matter fields appear as unmapped values. Acknowledge that you will handle them separately before importing; they are excluded from the editor and its article exports. Structured YAML, multiline values, duplicate fields, and oversized content are rejected without replacing your writing. Paste a body directly into the article editor if its surrounding file format is unsupported.

Structured article JSON

{
  "title": "A fictional project update",
  "excerpt": "An unfinished experiment.",
  "description": "A small change with the result still unknown.",
  "slug": "fictional-project-update",
  "body": "We tried a small change. The outcome is still unknown.",
  "questions": ["Does the article preserve uncertainty?"]
}

Exactly those six fields are supported, within the workspace limits. Up to twelve question strings are kept as editable private review notes. A surrounding JSON or Markdown reply fence is removed with a notice. Extra fields, invalid filenames, and malformed responses are rejected.

An article file and a workspace backup are different

A Markdown article omits source notes and review questions. An article JSON can include review questions but does not replace source notes. A version-1 private workspace backup includes your source and article together; restore it using Save or restore this workspace. Import previews are temporary and are not part of workspace backups until applied.

Review and keep the result

Add or edit questions under Review questions & notes, and save an explicit private backup to keep them. Article exports exclude these notes. Importing a file does not fact-check it, approve it, or publish anything. Supported absolute web links work in the reading preview; source HTML, images, and other link formats stay as text.
